Arrive in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil’s vibrant “Marvelous City.” After a transfer to your hotel, settle in and refresh. In the evening, meet your Tour Director and fellow travelers over a welcome dinner at Garota de Ipanema Restaurant, where the legendary bossa nova tune “The Girl from Ipanema” was born.
Start your day with a cable car ride up Sugarloaf Mountain, offering panoramic views of Guanabara Bay, Copacabana Beach, and the city skyline. Continue with a guided tour through Rio’s historic and cultural highlights: the National Library, Municipal Theater, Candelaria Church, Tiradentes Palace, and the colorful Escadaria Selarón. Walk past the futuristic Museum of Tomorrow and visit Cais do Valongo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For a quieter night, stroll along Copacabana or Ipanema Beach or visit a traditional boteco.
Travel south along the coast to the charming town of Paraty, recognized by UNESCO for its colonial architecture. After lunch, explore the cobblestone streets, whitewashed buildings, churches, and artist workshops. Conclude with a tasting of cachaça, Brazil’s national sugarcane spirit, and learn about its production.
